Cubs picks, predictions, odds for Sept. 15
The Chicago Cubs' odds took a turn around the 2021 MLB trade deadline, as the team had been in the NL Central mix but ultimately decided to undergo a selloff that functionally ended their 2021 playoff hopes. Javier Báez, Anthony Rizzo, and Kris Bryant, among others, were traded, and the Cubs have spent the last several weeks seeing what they can get out of many of their younger players and prospects. The Cubs now have insurmountable odds for the division, National League, and World Series, but the bright spot in the odds has been rookie infielder Patrick Wisdom. Wisdom has benefited from the extra playing time, moving up to the third best odds for NL Rookie of the Year.

The Cubs are significant underdogs for their upcoming game against the Phillies on Wednesday Sept. 15, but they actually enter this one off of an upset victory on Tuesday night. The Cubs went scoreless for the first four innings, but a four-run 5th against Kyle Gibson propelled them to the victory. They’re +175 for Wednesday’s game, with Alec Mills on the mound against Ranger Suárez. Mills strikeout prop is set at 3.5 (over +130), and Wisdom has the Cubs’ best home run odds at +250. Frank Schwindel has been excellent for the Cubs since his promotion to the majors as well, and he’s also just +280 to hit a home run in the game.
