Trio of top Dodgers prospects combines for 7 hits at High-A

The Dodgers’ trio of Top 100 hitters in High-A put together a huge performance on Wednesday.

Eduardo Quintero (LAD No. 3, MLB No. 19), Emil Morales (LAD No. 4, MLB No. 24) and Charles Davalan (LAD No. 6, MLB No. 81) combined for seven hits and seven RBIs for Great Lakes in a 13-5 win over Dayton at Day Air Ballpark. Morales and Davalan each hit homers, while Quintero tacked on a pair of doubles.

The trio was set down in order in the first inning, the only time all game that happened.

Quintero shot a two-out double in the third, sandwiched by a Davalan popout and a Morales groundout. Davalan singled with one out in the fifth, Quintero popped out and Morales homered -- a three-run shot -- to jumpstart a six-run inning for Great Lakes.

Davalan added a two-run homer in the sixth, followed by a Quintero walk and a Morales strikeout. Quintero stole second and later scored on a Jaron Elkins (LAD No. 24) single, part of a four-run inning.

Davalan reached on a fielder’s choice in the seventh. Quintero then doubled him home, and Morales came through with another double to score Quintero. They finished up the night with a Davalan double, Quintero walk and Morales flyout in the ninth.

Overall, Davalan went 3-for-6 in the leadoff spot with two RBIs. He now has hits in 11 of his last 12 games, with five home runs in that stretch. The 22-year-old outfielder is carrying a .947 OPS over the year at High-A.

Quintero went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a pair of walks. The 20-year-old outfielder has been red-hot for a little more than a week, slashing .414/.561/.759 over his past nine games. After a 32-game sample at High-A last year with an .824 OPS, Quintero has made a sizable jump to a .925 OPS this year.

Finally, Morales was 2-for-6 with four RBIs. The 19-year-old infielder homered for the second consecutive game and has driven in 58 runs in 55 games with Great Lakes thus far to go along with an .895 OPS.
