PHILADELPHIA -- Phillies right-hander Edubray Ramos has been one of the team's most effective relievers this season, but he will spend at least the next 10 days on the disabled list because of an injured left knee.
Ramos strained his left patellar tendon on a pitch in the sixth inning of Sunday afternoon's 10-2 loss to the Padres in Game 1 of a doubleheader at Citizens Bank Park. He does not think it is something "very serious," but he said he will have a MRI exam on Monday.
"It happened on the very last pitch. When I landed on my left leg, I felt that sharp pain in the knee," Ramos said about his at-bat, facing Padres pinch-hitter Franmil Reyes. "It was weird."
The Phillies activated right-hander Luis García (strained right wrist) from the 10-day DL to take his place on the 25-man roster. They also activated right-hander Yacksel Ríos to be the 26th man in Game 2.
Ramos is 3-1 with a 1.91 ERA in 39 appearances. He has struck out 33 and walked 13 in 33 innings. Garcia is 2-1 with a 4.74 ERA in 32 appearances.
