SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- By now, it’s apparent -- both inside and outside baseball circles -- that Edwin Díaz entering games to his Timmy Trumpet theme song is electric.

We’ve seen him enter to it during the regular season. We’ve seen him enter to it during the postseason. We’ve seen him enter to it while Timmy Trumpet is playing Timmy Trumpet.

And in Puerto Rico’s 5-0 victory over Colombia in Pool A on Friday night, we finally saw Díaz enter to the now-famous song at Hiram Bithorn Stadium. In San Juan. In front of his adoring Puerto Rican fans. Díaz gave up a hit but struck out the side to seal the win.

It’s a welcome sight after the Dodgers closer tore his right patella tendon celebrating in the 2023 World Baseball Classic -- ending his ‘23 season with the Mets before it even started.

“It’s a great moment,” manager Yadier Molina said postgame. “Not only for him, but for his family, too. I’m so happy for him.”

Puerto Rico (1-0) will next face Panama (0-1) at 6 p.m. ET on Saturday on FS1.
