SAN FRANCISCO -- Outfielder Ender Inciarte's recovery from a lumbar strain will remain on hold until the discomfort in his back subsides, Braves manager Brian Snitker said Tuesday.

"It's still biting him a little bit," Snitker said. "It's one of those things you can't rush. When he gets everything calmed down, he'll start doing baseball stuff again."

Inciarte, 28, sustained his injury last Tuesday in a game against St. Louis. He's batting .218 with two home runs and nine RBIs in 40 games.

The Braves could face an intriguing decision regarding Inciarte if rookie Austin Riley continues to thrive in his absence. Riley entered Tuesday batting .409 with three homers and six RBIs in six games.
