Thames dealing with hamstring tightness

PITTSBURGH -- Eric Thames left Friday night's 7-3 loss to the Pirates in the third inning with right hamstring tightness.
Thames started the game in right field and hit leadoff before being lifted for pinch-hitter Hernan Perez when his spot in the lineup came to bat for a second time. Thames struck out in his first at-bat.
"It happened [Thursday] night," Thames said after the game. "But it's one of those things where I was like, 'Eh, a little tweak here and there.' And then today, working with the trainers, I didn't feel it that much. Then I started running, I was like 'Ooh, it's there, and in the middle of the belly.' But it's definitely not too bad."
Thames was examined by the team doctors and trainers, and they don't believe the injury to be anything too serious. Thames believes he'll likely miss the next few days, but he's relieved that it came right before the break.
"The timing, I don't think it's perfect, but it's definitely the best situation with the four days off for the All-Star break," Thames said.
Perez laced an RBI single in his pinch-hit at-bat and remained in the game in right field. He finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate.
