KANSAS CITY -- Brewers first baseman Eric Thames sustained a left thumb injury while diving for a ball in Tuesday night's 5-2 win over the Royals. He is scheduled for an MRI on Wednesday.
"We're a little concerned about his thumb," manager Craig Counsell said.
Asked if the injury could be notable, Counsell replied: "It could be."
Thames leads the Brewers with seven homers this season. He went 1-for-4 on Tuesday night and batted in the seventh, popping out to short, before Jesús Aguilar entered as his defensive replacement in the ninth inning.
