Durazo honored by Mexican League team

Former D-backs first baseman Erubiel Durazo had his number 44 retired by the Naranjeros de Hermosillo of the Mexican Pacific League on Sunday.
Durazo, who spent his first four seasons in the Major Leagues with Arizona, was named the Liga Mexicana del Pacífico Rookie of the Year during the 1997-98 season. The following season he led the league in RBIs and finished four points shy of the batting title.
Durazo helped the Naranjeros win two LMP championships and was named the Caribbean Series MVP in 2001.
Durazo was also a member of the D-backs' 2001 World Series title team, helping Arizona fend off the Yankees in a memorable seven-game series. He had four hits in that Fall Classic and hit a critical homer off Tom Glavine in the deciding Game 5 of the NLCS that year to propel the D-backs to the World Series.
Durazo, who currently works as special adviser on Mexico to D-backs president & CEO Derrick Hall, hit .278 with 47 homers and 149 RBIs with Arizona before completing his seven-year big league career, which spanned from 1999-2005, with the A's.
He was inducted into the Serie del Caribe Hall of Fame in February of 2017.
