It’s hard to not catch World Cup fever right now. Even when you’re at a baseball game.
During the A’s-Dodgers game in West Sacramento on Tuesday, a fan decked out in Mexico soccer gear right behind home plate could be heard yelling “goal!” during the middle of a pitch from Justin Wrobleski. That occurred during one of Mexico’s first two goals against Ecuador in a match held in front of the home faithful in Mexico City.
With so many World Cup matches being played in America, we’ve already seen some wonderful crossover between baseball and soccer. Who could forget Scotland’s Tartan Army’s memorable trips to Fenway Park, Yankee Stadium and Miami’s loanDepot park this month?
While baseball season is in full swing, it’s difficult to not also be enthralled with what’s happening in soccer right now.
