Tatis has nothing on this cheesy old ad

There is no player who has more swagger or style than Fernando Tatis Jr. Only 21 years old, the Padres' shortstop is tied for the league lead in home runs and is lapping the competition in doing completely captivating stuff like this:

And when Tatis loosens up his hips, it gets even better. Whenever it's safe for people to go to dance clubs again, I guarantee you, this will be the biggest craze:

Given all that, it seems pretty reasonable to think that no one in the history of the Padres franchise can match Tatis' moves, right?

Wrong. Enter, this ridiculous McDonald's commercial from around 1984 or '85 featuring Tony Gwynn, Kurt Bevacqua, Carmelo Martínez and Tim Flannery. Considering that the Padres owner at the time was McDonald's food tycoon Ray Kroc, this is some serious corporate synergy.

Still, that doesn't mean that they skimped on the artistry, because this commercial has it all: choreographed bunting drills, bat twirling and even a little Fred Astaire-esque soft shoe by Martínez at the end.

Forget "Hamilton." This is the musical that needs to be given a full-length film on every streaming platform.
