Big Hurt buys Field of Dreams site

The Chicago White Sox won a thrilling Field of Dreams Game in Dyersville, Iowa, earlier this season. Now, a group headed by White Sox legend Frank Thomas has purchased a controlling interest in the iconic Field of Dreams Movie Site.
The transaction that was announced Thursday involves the purchase of all the interests in Go the Distance Baseball LLC, which had previously held ownership of the movie site and its sister company, All-Star Ballpark Heaven. The controlling interest was purchased by This is Heaven LLC, a venture between Thomas and Chicago real estate developer and entrepreneur Rick Heidner. Thomas will serve as CEO, and former Dodgers general manager Dan Evans will serve as COO.
“We are excited to lead the future development and expansion of the Field of Dreams in a collaborative spirit with our neighbors and government officials," Thomas stated in a press release.
Thomas, who was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2014, was a five-time All-Star and a two-time American League MVP Award winner during his 19-year career, including 16 seasons with the White Sox.

The Field of Dreams Game, which was capped by a walk-off home run from White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson last month, will be played in Dyersville once again next season with an Aug. 11 matchup between the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs.
