Friday's Dodgers-Giants game postponed

SAN FRANCISCO -- The torrential rain expected in Northern California struck with full force Friday, forcing postponement of the series opener between the Dodgers and Giants at AT&T Park.
The game will be made up as part of a split doubleheader when the Dodgers return to San Francisco on Saturday, April 28, at 1:05 p.m. PT. Fans should keep their tickets for Friday's game as those tickets will be honored for the rescheduled game at 1:05 p.m. on April 28.
Also, starting time of today's game has been pushed back by two hours to a 3:05 p.m. first pitch. All gates will open at 1:05 p.m.
The originally scheduled game on April 28 at 6:05 p.m. has been changed to 7:05 p.m. to accommodate the split doubleheader.
Both teams seized the opportunity to tweak their pitching rotations. The Giants pushed back left-hander Derek Holland, Friday's scheduled starter, to Monday night's series opener against Arizona. The Dodgers did not immediately announce the next start for right-hander Kenta Maeda, who also was scheduled to start Friday.
The rest of the pitching matchups remained as scheduled. Giants right-hander Chris Stratton will oppose Dodgers left-hander Rich Hill on Saturday, followed by San Francisco's Ty Blach and Los Angeles' Clayton Kershaw in a matchup of lefties on Sunday.
The Giants and Dodgers last met in a doubleheader of any sort on Sep. 27, 2003, when they played a split twinbill at San Francisco. Los Angeles won the opener, 5-0, before the Giants took the nightcap, 6-3.
Friday's postponement is just the sixth rainout at AT&T Park and the first since the Astros and Giants were washed out on April 12, 2006. All told, it is the Giants' 33rd rainout since moving to San Francisco in 1958.
