CLEVELAND -- One of the most dramatic World Series games in recent history took an intermission after the ninth inning, when rain forced a delay of Game 7 at Progressive Field, with the Cubs and Indians tied, 6-6.
After Cubs closer Aroldis Chapman retired the side in order in the bottom of the ninth, light rain grew heavier over the ballpark. That forced the grounds crew to bring out the tarp, sending a sold-out crowd scurrying to the concourses. The game had been tied since Rajai Davis hit a two-run homer off Chapman in the bottom of the eighth.
The game was delayed for 17 minutes before play resumed with Bryan Shaw on the mound for Cleveland.
