George Springer is on the United States' provisional roster for the 2017 World Baseball Classic, sources told MLB.com's Jon Paul Morosi on Friday, and the Astros' right fielder is reportedly strongly considering playing.
Springer told MLB.com's Brian McTaggart this week that he was unsure whether he would play in the tournament.

Springer is also eligible to play for Puerto Rico in the WBC, and, per Morosi's report, the Puerto Rican team has recruited him heavily.
If Springer decided to play for the U.S., the 27-year-old would join a host of Major League stars expected to join the American squad, including Nolan Arenado, Jonathan Lucroy, Max Scherzer, Chris Archer and Adam Jones.
Were Springer to join Puerto Rico, he would likely be playing alongside fellow big leaguers like Javier Báez, Francisco Lindor and Yadier Molina, who are all expected to participate for the Puerto Rican team.
