The Giants have agreed on a Minor League contract to bring infielder Gordon Beckham back to San Francisco, the team announced Wednesday.
According to MLB Network insider Jon Heyman, Beckham will earn $1.25 million in 2017 if he makes the Major League roster.
The Giants acquired Beckham from the Braves in late September in exchange for Minor League infielder Richard Rodriguez.
Beckham, 30, hit .217 with five home runs and 30 RBIs for Atlanta in 2016 before being traded to San Francisco, where he appeared in three games and drove in a run in six plate appearances. Beckham owns a .240 career batting average in 953 Major League games since 2009.
Beckham is expected to compete with recent Giants signee Jae-Gyun Hwang from the Korea Baseball Organization, among others, for the final spot on San Francisco's 25-man roster.
