New additions turn Giants' farm into one of the deepest in MLB

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Giants’ farm system received a major infusion of talent this summer.
Between the 2026 MLB Draft and their massive Trade Deadline sell-off, the Giants brought in a fresh wave of young players that they hope will help revitalize the franchise in the not-too-distant future.
With five Top 100 prospects, the Giants now boast one of the deepest farm systems in the Majors, providing a sense of consolation to an organization that has significantly underperformed at the big league level this year.
A pair of teenage shortstops -- Josuar Gonzalez and Luis Hernández -- continue to headline San Francisco’s rising system, but the organization’s overall depth has been balanced out by the arrival of several promising pitching prospects, most notably Jackson Flora, the No. 4 overall pick of the 2026 MLB Draft, and Ramon Marquez, who was acquired from the Phillies as part of the Luis Arraez trade.
“We’re certainly excited to bring this group in with the rest of our farm system,” general manager Zack Minasian said earlier this month. “There’s arms in that system right now that we’re really excited about. We’re just trying to make it as well-rounded and talented of a system as possible. Bringing in arms like this certainly helps.”

Biggest jump/fall
Here are the players whose ranks changed the most from the preseason list:
Jump: Jonah Cox, OF (Preseason: unranked | Midseason: No. 18)
Acquired from the A’s in exchange for right-hander Ross Stripling in Feb. 2024, Cox broke out as one of the hottest hitters in the Minor Leagues this season. He batted .400 over 44 games at Double-A Richmond before he was elevated directly to the Majors on May 31.
Cox endured a setback when he suffered a left oblique strain that sidelined him for nearly a month, but he earned another trip back to the big leagues on Friday, which should give him a chance to show that he deserves to be part of the Giants’ outfield mix moving forward.
Fall: Maui Ahuna, SS (Preseason: No. 20 | Midseason: unranked)
Ahuna has been viewed as one of the most gifted defenders in the Giants’ farm system, but he struggled to stay healthy earlier in his career and is in the midst of a down offensive season at Double-A Richmond, where he’s batting .228 with a .692 OPS and six home runs over 97 games this year.
