Cleveland org nets four walk-off wins -- three within minutes of each other -- in one day

Sept. 4, 2026, may come to be known as the Great Cleveland Walk-off Extravaganza. In an amazing set of parallels, the organization had four walk-off wins on Friday, with three of them coming within minutes of each other and in similar fashion.
The first walk-off came when the Guardians' Brayan Rocchio clubbed a game-winning homer to lead off the bottom of the ninth in the first game of a doubleheader against the Tigers.

Then, in the second game, Travis Bazzana walked off the Tigers with a single in the bottom of the 10th inning. And that's when an incredible set of coincidences began to unfold.

Minutes after Bazzana's heroics, High-A Lake County won on a walk-off two-run double from Juan Benjamin to beat Great Lakes -- also in the second game of a doubleheader.

Then, Double-A Akron did the same on a two-run double from Nolan Schubart, Cleveland's No. 24 prospect, as they downed Richmond -- also in the second game of a doubleheader.

That's three walk-off hits, all by left-handed batters, all within minutes of each other, all in the nightcap of a doubleheader, to give the Cleveland organization a total of four walk-off wins in the span of about three hours.
In another cool coincidence, both Rocchio and Bazzana had earlier tied their games with home runs -- Rocchio's being a grand slam and Bazzana's a two-run blast -- before calling game with their walk-off knocks.
For one day, at least, Cleveland proved to be the most resilient organization in baseball.
