Why stop at first? A's prospect pounds out 5 XBHs in Triple-A game

Henry Bolte's single-game performance Friday for Triple-A Las Vegas would stand as a good week for most players.

The A's No. 5 prospect went 5-for-5 with five extra-base hits -- two homers, two doubles and a triple -- against St. Paul at Las Vegas Ballpark.

Only 16 players have had five extra-base hits in a Major League game since at least 1901. It was accomplished most recently last season by Bolte's former Minor League teammate and someone who will likely welcome him to the big leagues in the near future: A's first baseman Nick Kurtz.

Four of Bolte's five hits went to the opposite field, including both of his home runs, giving him 10 long balls in 35 games this season. That's already one more than he had through 114 games in the Minors last season.

Those two home runs, however, were wall-scrapers compared to what Bolte did on Wednesday, when he launched a homer to left that traveled a Statcast-projected 479 feet. That is the longest tracked homer at any level of pro ball in 2026.

All of those extra bases cut down on Bolte's opportunities to steal, but he's used his elite speed to steal 16 bases in 17 attempts already this year. His slash line is an impressive .329/.401/.604 through 167 plate appearances.

If he keeps producing that this rate, the tooled-up outfielder will have a massive stat line by season's end at Triple-A. Perhaps the only thing that could stop that from happening is an MLB callup.
