Hot Dogs Beware: Nationals Celebrate Hot Dog Day at Nationals Park on Friday, May 15
Glizzy fans, rejoice! The Washington Nationals are calling all hot dog fanatics to test their glizzy-eating skills on Friday, May 15, as the Club hosts the Baltimore Orioles at 6:45 p.m. In celebration of Hot Dog Day, the Nationals will distribute 20,000 hot dog hats, host hot dog-themed activities and offer limited-edition concession items. Don’t let the opportunity to relish the day at Nationals Park pass you by; tickets are available at Nationals.com/Tickets.
Fans can feast on $5 frankfurters all night long and take part in the Nationals’ Glizzy Journey, a live counter displaying how many hot dogs fans have consumed – and how those dawgs measure up to reach iconic Washington, D.C., landmarks like the U.S. Capitol or Washington Monument from Nationals Park. Plus, the more glizzies consumed, the more fun is unlocked, as fans will eat to activate special surprises and other hot-diggity concessions deals throughout gameday. Frankly, we don’t think fans will have any trouble trying to ketchup to these goals.
Hot dog aficionados can also explore the one night only gourmet glizzy menu at select concession stands, including The Change-Up Food Hall, Grand Slam Grills and a number of fan-favorite vendors around the ballpark while supplies last. The specialty food and beverage items feature:
- The Screech Dog: Located at The Change-Up Food Hall, the Screech dog contains an all beef frank, fried spam, char grilled pineapple, sriracha aioli and salsa verde.
- Hot dog fries: Shoestring-cut crispy fried hot dogs with chipotle ranch, also available at The Change-Up Food Hall.
- Flamin’ Korean Mozz Hot Dog: A crispy Korean-style corn dog with mozzarella and sausage, finished with a bold Hot Cheetos topping. Available at Ssong’s Korean Corn Dogs at Sections 130 and 305.
- “Dragged Through the Garden” frozen margarita: Pickle margarita garnished with a sport pepper and Vienna sausage toothpick, finished with a sprinkle of celery salt. Available at Electric Cool-Aid by Sections 102 and 143.
- Pigs in a blanket and corn dogs will also be special additions to the menus at Grand Slam Grill locations.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early (and hungry), beginning when gates open at 5:30 p.m., to receive one of 20,000 hot dog hats, enjoy a pregame concert in the Budweiser Terrace, grab a glizzy and sip on Happy Hour drink specials at select concessions stands. Photo stations will be available for the best dressed fans in baseball — whether that’s your finest hot dog costume or favorite Nationals gear.
So, whether you think a hot dog is a sandwich or not, purchase tickets now and bring your appetite to Nationals Park on Friday, May 15. Bun appétit!
