PHILADELPHIA -- Roy Halladay made so many magnificent memories for the Blue Jays and Phillies in his 16-year career that his family decided he would have no logo on his Hall of Fame plaque when he was posthumously inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2019.
Halladay came to mind this week, when AL All-Star manager John Schneider named Blue Jays right-hander Dylan Cease the starting pitcher for Tuesday night’s All-Star Game at Citizens Bank Park.
NL manager Dave Roberts named Phillies left-hander Cristopher Sánchez his starter.
It will be the first time the Blue Jays have had a pitcher start the All-Star Game since Halladay in 2009. Halladay allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits in two innings in the AL's 4-3 win at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.
It will be the first time the Phillies have had a pitcher start the Midsummer Classic since Halladay in 2011. He tossed two perfect innings in the NL's 5-1 win at Chase Field in Phoenix.

Halladay was an eight-time All-Star, including six selections with Toronto and two with Philadelphia.
