Domínguez optioned back to Minors after another misplay

NEW YORK – Jasson Domínguez was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre late on Thursday, shortly after the outfielder committed an error late in the Yankees’ 10-3 victory over the Rockies.
Domínguez flubbed a backhanded pickup of Adael Amador’s eighth-inning single to right field off Luis Gil, allowing Zac Veen to score from first base.
No corresponding roster move was announced. It's possible the Yankees will promote a pitcher for the Subway Series against the Mets that begins Friday night.
It was the third error of the season and the second misplay in three games for Domínguez, who was also charged with an error on Sunday at San Diego.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone defended Domínguez after that play, when he didn't field a Dustin Harris single that resulted in a two-base error. Gerrit Cole prevented the run from scoring in New York’s 4-3 loss.
“Obviously, it’s a play you’ve got to make,” Boone said then. “Fortunately, we were able to get out of that inning, but he just didn’t make the play. … Errors happen. You’ve got to catch the ball.”
Domínguez has slashed .225/.267/.368 with 12 doubles, six homers and 14 RBIs in 57 Major League games this season.
