Sometimes the pitcher wins and sometimes the hitter wins, but Giants left-hander Sammy Long really got the better of Mets star Javier Báez with a pitch Tuesday night.

Báez was way out in front of Long’s well-executed 78 mph changeup, as the camera angle down the third-base line illustrated well.

Long went on to fool Báez with another changeup in almost the same spot on his next pitch, but credit Báez -- he worked his way back to draw a walk leading off the second inning. Overall, it was Long’s night in Queens, however, as the rookie worked 5 1/3 scoreless innings against the Mets’ struggling offense as the Giants cruised to an 8-0 victory.
