WASHINGTON -- Nationals left fielder Jayson Werth was not in Saturday's starting lineup in a 2-1 win over the Marlins because of back tightness. Manager Dusty Baker said sitting Werth down was precautionary.
Werth started feeling pain in his back during Friday night's series opener. He was taken out in the seventh inning. Once he went into the locker room, Werth did some muscle tests with the trainers, and they ruled out any strains or muscle pulls in the back.
"Jayson is OK. We are trying to get through [Sunday] and we have four or five days to heal and take care of our wounded," Baker said.
