At 45, Werth 1 shy of franchise on-base record

DENVER -- Jayson Werth drew a walk against Rockies starter Jon Gray in the third inning of the Nationals' 12-10 loss on Wednesday, marking his 45th consecutive game reaching base. Werth now owns sole possession of second place for the Nationals/Expos franchise record, trailing only Rusty Staub (46).
Werth also hit a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning.
Werth's streak is the longest in the Majors this season and the longest since the Reds' Joey Votto reached base in 48 consecutive games last season.
