Rangers sign revival project Cotton, 2 others

The Rangers have signed right-handers Jharel Cotton and Edubray Ramos and outfielder Jason Martin to Minor League contracts with invites to Major League Spring Training, the team announced Monday.
Cotton, who will turn 29 years old in January, hasn’t pitched in the Majors since he underwent Tommy John surgery in March 2018. The righty has recorded a 4.95 ERA over 29 starts in two big league seasons, including a 2.15 mark over five starts in his debut year with the A’s.
Traded to the Cubs for cash in November 2019, Cotton was part of Chicago’s initial 60-man player pool this past season. The team released him in September.
Ramos, meanwhile, has posted a 3.71 ERA over four seasons, all with the Phillies. He signed a Minor League deal with the Dodgers last December but never pitched for the club.
Martin appeared in seven games with the Pirates this past season, going 0-for-9 with two walks. The 25-year-old owns a .539 OPS in 51 plate appearances at the MLB level.
