The Pittsburgh Pirates today recalled outfielder Jhostynxon (pronounced "JOES-tin-son") Garcia -- nicknamed The Password -- from Triple-A Indianapolis.
The 23-year-old Garcia, who is currently rated by both Baseball America and MLB Pipeline as Pittsburgh's No. 4 prospect, hit a combined .242 (23-for-95) with three doubles, six home runs, 13 RBI, seven walks and 15 runs scored in 25 minor league games split between Indianapolis (19 games) and Low-A Bradenton (rehab assignment, six games) prior to his promotion.
Garcia hit .375 (6-for-16) with four RBI and three walks in five Triple-A games after returning from his rehab assignment, which included a 5-for-5, three-homer performance in the Indians' 10-8 win on May 12 at Louisville.
Garcia, who was acquired from Boston in a five-player trade last year on December 4, made his Major League debut with the Red Sox last season, going 1-for-7 with a double and two walks in his five games from August 22-28.
Garcia will wear uniform No. 34.
