X-rays negative on Pederson's left hand after HBP

ARLINGTON -- Rangers designated hitter Joc Pederson exited the Rangers’ 6-2 win over the Diamondbacks on Saturday night with a left hand injury.
Pederson was struck by a 93.3 mph four-seamer from Arizona starter Brandon Pfaadt in the fifth inning, but initially stayed in the game to run the bases after a lengthy meeting with manager Skip Schumaker and head athletic trainer Matt Lucero at first base.
Justin Foscue pinch-hit for Pederson the next time his spot in the order came to the plate, notably with right-hander Pfaadt still on the mound. Foscue and Pederson are two halves of the Rangers’ DH platoon. Pederson’s 26 homers are tied for the most on the team (Jake Burger) and tied for 10th most in the AL.
Manager Skip Schumaker said the X-rays were negative, but Pederson will undergo additional scans with a hand specialist in the coming days.
“He's sore,” Schumaker said. “I mean, it got him. It flushed him really good.”
Pederson missed time in 2025, his first season with the Rangers, due to a right hand fracture after being similarly hit by a pitch.
