Pederson excited to coach at youth camp

LOS ANGELES -- In some ways, Joc Pederson is still learning.
But on Thursday, a scheduled day off for the Dodgers, Pederson will be teaching at the inaugural Joc Pederson Baseball ProCamp, to be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Edward R. Roybal Learning Center in Los Angeles.
Pederson will be joined by prep and college coaches from the area at the camp, which is targeted for boys and girls in first through eighth grade.
Pederson not only comes from a family of athletes (his father, Stu, played briefly for the Dodgers), but he also comes from a family of coaches. He'll be one temporarily on Thursday.
"My dad's a coach in the Alaska Winter League, my brother is in the process of starting his college coaching career, and I can see myself doing it, too," Pederson said. "I've learned so much from coaches over the years, like Johnny Washington, Shawn Wooten, Damon Mashore, Ron Roenicke -- people who have influenced my career.
"I wasn't the highest Draft pick or the best player in high school. Coaches have changed my career, and I appreciate them having put me in the right direction, shown me how to play the game the right way -- my dad, as well. It's fun to watch kids go out and compete, and I just want to share that influence with others."
