Bowlan exits with groin injury in latest blow to Phillies' 'pen

NEW YORK -- The Phillies’ late-inning bullpen situation is tenuous at best, and that was before Jonathan Bowlan left Thursday night’s 3-0 victory over the Mets at Citi Field in the eighth inning with tightness in his right groin.
Bowlan tweaked his groin on a 1-1 pitch to Francisco Lindor. He threw another pitch for a ball then left the game during that at-bat.
"No pop, nothing like that,” Bowlan said. “So that’s a positive.”
Bowlan was on the 15-day injured list in April with the same injury.
“It’s not that extreme, so we’ll see,” Bowlan said.
Bowlan has been interim manager Don Mattingly’s primary right-handed setup man for closer Jhoan Duran. If Bowlan misses time, rookie Alex McFarlane is the most likely option to step into that role.
