BALTIMORE -- The Orioles are looking for any spark to ignite their roster, but the return of Jonathan Schoop could be that spark.
Baltimore's starting second baseman was activated from the 10-day disabled list before Tuesday's series opener against the Royals.
Schoop, 26, had been on the DL since April 14 with a right oblique strain that he sustained during a swinging strikeout in Boston. He was sent on a rehab assignment after a successful recovery period in extended spring training. Infielder Engelb Vielma was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk.
