Altuve, Correa take turns wowing on defense

HOUSTON -- Second baseman Jose Altuve and shortstop Carlos Correa are known mainly for their hitting, but both came up with spectacular defensive plays in the early innings in the Astros' 7-1 win during the series opener against the Indians on Monday at Minute Maid Park.
Altuve barehanded a grounder going to his right to throw out Michael Brantley at first base leading off the second inning. He then hit a two-run double during a five-run third as the Astros took a 5-0 lead.

"I didn't trust Carlos to make the play so I went in front of him and barehanded the play," Altuve said jokingly. "Honestly, I didn't realize Carlos was behind me and made the play."
With a shift on for the left-handed-hitting Lonnie Chisenhall leading off the top of the third, Correa extended himself in making a leaping catch to rob Chisenhall of a sure hit. Correa has been making plays like this all season for the Astros to go along with his hitting prowess.
