Siri's epic slam robbery saves the day (and buffet) vs. former team

ST. PETERSBURG -- The buffet beyond the left-field wall was spared thanks to Jose Siri.

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the third inning, Taylor Walls launched a drive a Statcast-projected 330 feet to left field that looked destined for a grand slam. But Siri tracked it down at the wall and reached over the fence to bring it back, robbing Walls of the big hit.

After making the catch, Siri tipped his cap to the crowd as he jogged back to the dugout.

Siri spent three seasons with the Rays from 2022-24, making the grab against his former club.

The grab ended a tough inning for the Angels, with their starting pitcher Jack Kochanowicz issuing four walks across 2 1/3 innings of work and Mitch Farris coming in relief. The damage in the third was limited to two runs after Farris retired the last two batters with a strikeout and the flyout to Siri.
