NEW YORK -- Mets outfielder Juan Soto was out of the lineup for his second consecutive game on Monday because of flu-like symptoms. According to Mets manager Carlos Mendoza, Soto developed a fever Sunday night and was too weak to play against the Reds late Monday afternoon.

Soto was scratched from Sunday’s game against the Marlins because of similar problems. The Mets came into Monday’s game with losses in five of their past six.

Carson Benge served as DH from the leadoff spot, with Mark Vientos batting third.

Mendoza said on Sunday that flu-like symptoms had been going through the clubhouse the past few days.
