Not so fast, Junior! Caminero tries to trick ump after all-out effort on a 'catch'

Did Junior Caminero make this highlight-reel catch? Well, it sort of depends who you ask.
The Rays’ All-Star third baseman made an all-out pursuit for a foul ball off the bat of the Twins’ Josh Bell in the sixth inning of Saturday’s game. As he approached the tarp along the left-field line, Caminero lunged and reached out his backhand. The ball appeared to land beyond his reach.
Still, even after the third-base umpire signaled a “safe” call, Caminero did not give up.
He dug out the ball from the other side of the tarp and held it up with his right hand, presenting it to the umpire as if to plead his case. Could his version of the hidden-ball trick work?
Not so fast. The umpire wasn’t duped. We’ll have to see if Caminero brings his hijinks back for Round 2 in the near future.
