CHICAGO -- There's been another setback during Reds third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes' rough season. Hayes was placed on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to Thursday) prior to Friday’s game against the Cubs at Wrigley Field with a left groin strain.
Infielder Edwin Arroyo was recalled from Triple-A Louisville to replace Hayes on the active roster.
Hayes, 29, is batting .153 with a .463 OPS -- both career lows -- with five home runs and eight RBIs in 78 games this season. It’s his second stint on the IL this season after missing time from May 21 to July 9 with a bulging disc in his back.

Arroyo, 23, is back for a second stint with Cincinnati this season. After he made his big league debut on June 1, he batted .244 with a .568 OPS in 44 games. But Arroyo struggled defensively while playing mostly second base in place of an injured Matt McLain, having difficulty turning double plays with shortstop Elly De La Cruz.
The Reds optioned Arroyo to Louisville on July 30. He batted .265 with an .859 OPS and four homers in his last 19 games.
