DENVER – Rockies third baseman Kyle Karros left Saturday night’s 4-3 loss to the Guardians before the sixth inning with the recurrence of concussion symptoms.

Karros, 24, originally sustained the injury in a collision with shortstop Ezequiel Tovar while both were going for a ground ball on Aug. 11 at Arizona. Karros returned from the seven-day concussion injured list to the Rockies’ lineup on Friday night and went 1-for-4 with a walk in the 9-1 loss to the Guardians.

On Saturday, Karros was 0-for-2 with a ground out and a strikeout. The Rockies removed him as a precaution, and expect to be careful with Karros, given that symptoms showed up so quickly after his rest and recovery period.

“He had symptoms similar to his concussion,” Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer said. “So we had to get him out. We’ll know more tomorrow.”

Karros, who debuted last August and is in his first full Major League season, is batting .263 with a .779 OPS, 10 home runs and 44 RBIs.

During the time Karros was on the concussion IL, the Rockies called up switch-hitting Adael Amador, 23, who went 3-for-10 with a home run, a double, six RBIs, three walks and five strikeouts in five appearances before returning to Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday.
