Leo De Vries keeps showing why he's the Athletics' No. 1 prospect and MLB's No. 2 overall.
The 19-year-old had another big game in Double-A on Friday, collecting two doubles, a homer and four RBIs in Midland's 8-7 loss to San Antonio at Momentum Bank Ballpark. It was the third time in De Vries' pro career that he's had three extra-base hits in a game.
Friday's showing was De Vries' 25th multi-hit game of the season (and ninth three-hit game) and continued a hot start to July in which the switching-hitting shortstop has hit .308 with a .950 OPS across nine games to start the month.
Though he didn't steal any bases Friday, De Vries also continues to show off his speed. His 31 stolen bases are tied for most among A's Minor Leaguers and are tied for seventh-most among all Double-A players.
For the season, De Vries is now hitting .286 with 11 homers, 39 RBIs and an .820 OPS.
