Leo De Vries -- ranked as the Athletics No. 1 prospect and the No. 2 prospect in baseball, per MLB Pipeline -- underwent successful surgery on his injured right shoulder, the team announced on Monday.

Dr. Keith Meister performed the surgery to repair De Vries’ right shoulder instability in Arlington, Texas. The procedure involved an anterior bankart repair and posterior debridement. De Vries will now report to Arizona to begin rehabilitation, per the team release.

De Vries, 19, hit .290/.378/.458 with 13 home runs, 21 doubles and 34 stolen bases for Double-A Midland. The 2026 season was his first full year in the A’s organization after being acquired from the Padres last July as a part of the return package for closer Mason Miller.

The hope is for De Vries to return to game action sometime during the first two months of the 2027 season.
