Robert robs homer ... then loses his glove

CHICAGO -- White Sox center fielder Luis Robert, the No. 3 prospect in the game, per MLB Pipeline, doesn’t even need to complete a spectacular play to make it memorable.

With one out in the seventh inning of Wednesday’s exhibition contest against the Brewers at Guaranteed Rate Field, Ben Gamel launched a 0-1 fastball from Dane Dunning toward the seats just to the left of center. Robert raced after the drive and timed his leap over the fence perfectly, grabbing the ball in his glove.

But when Robert’s arm hit the fence, he lost his glove over the top. In the process, the ball also came loose and landed as a home run.

Robert has been getting rave reviews throughout Spring Training and Summer Camp and has produced highlight-reel home runs over the past few weeks, either when he’s falling over after contact or crushing titanic shots toward the left-field concourse. He doubled and drove in a run Wednesday.

This moment against the Brewers showed Robert is just as electric defensively.
