ATLANTA -- Unrelenting rain on Wednesday caused the Marlins' series finale against the Braves at SunTrust Park to be postponed. It was Miami's first rainout of the season.
The game will be made up on Aug. 13 as part of a day-night doubleheader in what now will be a four-game series in the Marlins' final visit to Atlanta. The first game is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. ET, with the second at 7:35 p.m.
Miami's current road trip continues to Philadelphia for a four-game series at Citizens Bank Park beginning at 7:05 p.m. ET on Thursday.
Due to Wednesday's rainout, the Marlins are pushing all five of their starting pitchers back one day. Pablo López, initially scheduled to face the Braves on Wednesday, now will take the mound against the Phillies. Right-hander Nick Pivetta will start the opener for Philadelphia.
The revised pitching matchups for the series include Trevor Richards vs. Vince Velasquez on Friday, José Ureña vs. Zach Eflin on Saturday and Wei-Yin Chen vs. Aaron Nola on Sunday.
Dan Straily has been bumped back to Monday at home against the Cardinals.
The Marlins leave Atlanta after dropping the first two games of the series. They were outscored 16-9.
Wednesday's game was scheduled for 7:35 p.m., but the tarp had been on the field since around 3:15 p.m., and the rain was steady and heavy for about 90 minutes before the announcement was made that the game had been postponed.
