This debut was jumbo! Marlins' Deadline acquisition twirls Triple-A milestone

Jace Beck left a near-perfect first impression on the Marlins.
The right-handed pitcher acquired at the Trade Deadline delivered a rain-shortened five-inning no-hitter as Triple-A Jacksonville blanked Gwinnett, 4-0, on Sunday at Gwinnett Field.
Beck's abbreviated no-no marked his fourth hitless outing of the season, and obviously his first in the Marlins organization. The Cubs traded Beck and infielder Jonathon Long (MIA No. 14) for left-handed pitcher Braxton Garrett on Monday.
Following a throwing error by third baseman Gage Miller to open the bottom half of the first, Beck retired 15 batters in order. The 26-year-old righty struck out five batters, including former All-Star Carlos Santana in the opening frame.
Beck hurled 65 pitches, 39 for strikes, maxing out at 97.3 mph out on his fastest pitch of the matchup. He generated eight swings-and-misses, the same amount Gwinnett totaled with three pitchers in five innings.
Before Beck was acquired by the Marlins, the 6-foot-9, 200-pound righty logged a 6.60 ERA across 15 innings for Triple-A Iowa. He had a ratio of 14 strikeouts to five walks after finding his groove at Double-A Knoxville to start the season, posting a 2.87 ERA with 102 punchouts across 20 appearances -- six of which were starts.
Now in his age-26 season, Beck was selected in the 22nd round -- which no longer exists -- in the 2019 Draft by the Mets. The Oklahoma native elected free agency after the 2025 season before signing with the Cubs this past November.
