Ozuna climbs wall to catch Flores' drive

MIAMI -- The fences were lowered at Marlins Park prior to the 2016 season, and the alteration proved to benefit Miami left fielder Marcell Ozuna with one out in the fifth inning of Sunday's 4-2 walk-off win against the Mets.
Ozuna tracked Wilmer Flores' towering fly ball to deep left field, used the top of the 6-foot wall to pull himself up with his right hand, and gloved the ball with his left.
"[At first], I thought the ball was gone," Ozuna said. "I was like, 'Let me clinch, just in case.' When I clinched, I saw the ball moving that way. I threw out my hand, and caught it."
It's doubtful that the ball had the distance to have been a home run, but it was a well-timed and well-improvised play by Ozuna to record the second out of the inning.
Miami right-hander Dan Straily had not allowed a hit through five innings, but the Flores drive to the fence was the closest. Straily clapped into his glove and gave a tip of the cap to Ozuna on the play.
"They told me when I got over here that the ballpark would be very friendly to me, being a fly-ball guy," Straily said. "When he hit it, I knew he got it. I thought Ozuna was giving me the courtesy chasing it. I didn't know it was still in the ballpark."
Per Statcast™, the fly ball projected 344 feet with a launch angle of 96 degrees.
Marlins Park opened in 2012, and until '16, the height of the walls ranged from 11 to 13 feet.
"I just went there [to the wall]," Ozuna said. "If it was close to me, try to make the catch."
