Join the Marlins for Opening Day hype event

In anticipation of MLB Opening Day, the Miami Marlins and Major League Baseball are hosting an “Road to Opening Day” event at Wynwood Walls on Tuesday.

The event, which is part of a league-wide campaign to celebrate Opening Day and all of the various ways fans can enjoy baseball, will award fans with free collectibles, ballpark-themed snacks, a chance to rub elbows with baseball greats and team mascots, and other surprises.

The Marlins’ “Road to Opening Day” event is scheduled to take place from 4-7 p.m. ET on Tuesday. It will be held at the outdoor art museum located at 266 NW 26th St. If inclement weather is in the forecast, a decision to either move forward or postpone the event will come two hours before the scheduled start time.

Those who stop by can win prizes, taste free ballpark-themed bites, test their arm in speed pitch and meet Marlins alumni Gaby Sanchez and Antonio Alfonseca, mascot Billy The Marlin and the Marlins Mermaids. Fans will receive a commemorative Opening Day 2022 card, featuring a special design by one of five artists with a QR code on the back that will allow them to unlock a special Opening Day social media filter.

The Marlins will begin their 2022 regular season on Friday at San Francisco against the Giants. The club will host Opening Day watch parties at Duffy's Sports Grill in Kendall (8575 SW 124 Ave., Miami, FL, 33183) and Fort Lauderdale (1804 Cordova Rd., Ft. Lauderdale, FL, 33316). There will be special prices on domestic beer and signature cocktails, a live DJ and an event host, along with promotional giveaways raffled off to guests. First pitch is scheduled for 4:35 p.m. ET.

The team’s home opener from loanDepot Park will come on April 14 at 6:40 p.m. vs. the Philadelphia Phillies.
