Stanton, Yelich return to Marlins' lineup
JUPITER, Fla. -- Christian Yelich and Giancarlo Stanton returned to the Marlins' lineup for Saturday's 1-0 win over the Cardinals at Roger Dean Stadium.
Fresh from leading the United States to its first World Baseball Classic championship, Yelich and Stanton hit third and fourth, respectively, on Saturday. But manager Don Mattingly indicated that this might not be the norm through the final week of the Grapefruit League season.
"It's good to get them back," Mattingly said of the heart of the Marlins' batting order.
Yelich hit .310 in eight games for the U.S. team. He collected nine hits, including four doubles, in 29 official at-bats.
"Yeli has had the more consistent at-bats and played the field," Mattingly said. "He's been playing nine innings. So he's pretty much ready to go."
It didn't take long for Yelich to factor into the game, making a nice running catch in right-center field for the first out of the game. He went 1-for-3 and scored the only run of the game in the fourth inning.

After leading off with a double, Yelich scored when Cards left fielder Randal Grichuk lost Derek Dietrich's pop fly in the bright South Florida sun.

Mattingly said he would get Stanton into the field for more innings to prepare the Marlins slugger for the regular season. Stanton hit .227 in seven Classic games. He went 5-for-22 with one homer and two doubles.
Stanton went 1-for-2 with a walk in Saturday's game.
"So, little different plans for those guys through the end of camp," Mattingly said. "Maybe similar days but maybe less at-bats for Yeli, because we're not really worried about him being ready to play nine innings."
