ST. LOUIS -- Matt Carpenter was removed during the fourth inning of Wednesday night's game against the Pirates after he was feeling nauseous, according to the Cardinals. He was replaced at first base by Matt Adams.
The Cardinals are already dealing with injuries to three starting position players -- Marcell Ozuna, Kolten Wong and Jedd Gyorko -- who all went on the disabled list in the past week.
Carpenter walked twice in two plate appearances before his exit. He is hitting .274 with 34 home runs and 71 RBIs this season.
