CHICAGO -- Matt Roffe will be the new director of amateur scouting for the White Sox, a Major League source confirmed to MLB.com on Thursday. Roffe is not expected to be officially announced by the club until early next week.

The White Sox did not comment on the hiring.

The White Sox traveled the title path in adding Roffe, who served as assistant director of amateur scouting for the recently crowned 2026 World Series champion Brewers since November 2025. Roffe held the positions of manager and coordinator of scouting operations with the Brewers for the previous four seasons before his final promotion in Milwaukee.

Roffe, 30, joins a top-notch front office staff assembled by general manager Chris Getz, with a number of hires coming from outside the organization. Roffe was a player personnel and pro scouting analyst from 2019-21 for Arizona, where he crossed over with Josh Barfield, a current assistant general manager with the White Sox. At the time, Barfield was the director of player development for the Diamondbacks.

Roffe also worked previously as an intern with the Brewers and Padres, as well as a Statcast and laber relations intern with Major League Baseball.

While Roffe will be in charge of the White Sox amateur Draft moving forward, Getz has spoken previously about having a different level of responsibilities in filling this position. Roffe’s exact duties are yet to be determined.

This White Sox position opened when Mike Shirley resigned on Sept. 12. Shirley oversaw the 2026 Draft for the White Sox, which featured the highest bonus pool in MLB Draft history at $20,489,500 and included the selection of shortstop Roch Cholowsky with the top overall pick.
