NEW YORK -- Left-hander Max Fried, on the injured list because of a left elbow bone bruise, will throw live batting practice on Tuesday, and Giancarlo Stanton will be in the batter’s box during the session. Fried is expected to throw close to 30 pitches.

According to manager Aaron Boone, Stanton, who is dealing with a right calf strain, is moving with a little more intensity and hitting again against velocity. There isn’t a timetable on when Stanton will return to big league action.

Fried exited the Yankees’ 7-0 loss in Baltimore on May 13 after throwing 61 pitches with what was initially diagnosed as left elbow posterior soreness. He went on the IL three days later, retroactive to May 14.

Fried is 4-3 with a 3.21 ERA in 10 starts this season, his second with New York. His return would potentially give the Yankees a formidable 1-2-3 punch atop their rotation alongside American League Cy Young Award frontrunner Cam Schlittler and 2023 AL Cy Young Award winner Gerrit Cole.

Stanton was slashing .256/.302/.422 in 24 games when he went on the IL on April 28. He then suffered a setback in his recovery earlier this month while running the bases.
