The Yankees placed pitcher Max Fried on the 15-day injured list after MRI and CT scans revealed a left elbow bone bruise, the club announced on Friday.

Fried exited the Yankees’ 7-0 loss in Baltimore on Wednesday after throwing 61 pitches with what was initially diagnosed as left elbow posterior soreness.

Fried was examined by team physician Dr. Christopher Ahmad, and Dr. Neal ElAttrache will also review the imaging results of the bone bruise.

“I’m definitely bummed that I'm going to have to be missing some time, but overall happy that it doesn't look like it's gonna be anything serious -- no surgery required or anything like that," Fried said. "So, never want to go on the IL and miss games, but also understand that the long-term outlook still looks good.”

Repeat imaging will again be taken in a few weeks (or when asymptomatic) to further determine when Fried can resume throwing, according to the club. A more specific return and rehab schedule will be determined at that time.
