TAMPA, Fla. – The Yankees added another versatile depth option on Monday, acquiring infielder Max Schuemann from the Athletics in exchange for Minor League right-hander Luis Burgos.
The 28-year-old Schuemann will provide an additional bench choice for manager Aaron Boone and his coaches this spring, competing against Oswaldo Cabrera and Amed Rosario, who are already on the roster. Paul DeJong is also in camp as a non-roster invitee.
Schuemann, 28, batted .197 (36-for-183) with two homers and 13 RBIs in 101 games with the Athletics in 2025. He appeared defensively at second base, third base, shortstop and all three outfield positions.
