Longtime Mets broadcast director Webb dies

Bill Webb, the longtime television director for Mets games, died Tuesday after a battle with cancer. He was 70.
Webb, who was renowned for his work in the sports broadcasting industry, directed baseball telecasts for FOX Sports since 1996, and Mets games for SportsNet New York since its launch in 2006. His work has had a lasting influence on the style of modern broadcasts with its use of fast cuts, crowd shots and extreme close-ups of players' faces.
Over his career, Webb worked 17 World Series, 20 League Championship Series and 18 All-Star Games. He was inducted into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame in 2016.

Prior to joining FOX Sports, Webb directed Mets games at WOR-TV and served as lead director for ABC Sports.
